According to a report entitled “State Bioscience Industry Development 2012,” which was recently released at the BIO International Conference (“BIO”) held in Boston, Indiana has moved its way to the top of the list and is leading the nation in jobs and growth in the industry. National average for growth in the industry has been approximately 6.4%, however, in Indiana it has been a staggering 14% since 2001. Part of the growth has been fueled by the fact that Indiana is one of only two states that currently have employment in four out of five specialized bioscience subsectors. Interestingly, Indiana high school junior Nathan Kondamuri was announced as the winner of the International BioGENEius Challenge at BIO as well.
